Management review — supplementals (IATF only)
Plain-language summary
At least annually (more often when risk demands), with automotive-specific inputs — cost of poor quality, process effectiveness AND efficiency, warranty, field failures, customer scorecards, feasibility results — and a documented action plan when customer performance targets are missed.
What the clause is really asking
Frequency: at least annual, increased by risk to compliance from internal/external changes or performance issues. Added inputs include: cost of poor quality, measures of process effectiveness and efficiency, product conformance, feasibility assessments for changes/new facilities/products, customer satisfaction, performance against maintenance objectives, warranty performance where applicable, customer scorecard reviews, field failure identification, capability results. Added output: documented and implemented action plan when customer performance requirements are not met.
What auditors look for
Auditors check the automotive inputs are genuinely on the table (CoPQ and warranty being the classic absentees), the annual minimum is met, and — the sharp edge — where the customer scorecard shows a missed target, a documented action plan exists and is being executed.
Typical evidence
Review packs showing the IATF inputs; CoPQ reporting; scorecard reviews in minutes; action plans for missed customer targets with implementation evidence.
How to comply — recommendations
Extend your review agenda with the IATF input list as a second column. Standing rule: any red on any customer scorecard automatically generates an action-plan agenda item — auditors check that link first.
Common nonconformities
CoPQ never quantified; warranty/field data absent; customer target missed with no documented action plan; reviews skipping the annual minimum after a quiet year.
